Fairland defeats Meigs to go 20-0 in regular season

PROCTORVILLE, Ohio -- Fairland's girls secured their second consecutive undefeated regular season Monday with a 70-31 victory over Meigs.

Fairland (20-0) moves on to Division III sectional play against Chesapeake at 1 p.m., Saturday, at Jackson High School. Chesapeake advanced Monday with a 43-42 defeat of Wellston.

It was also Senior Night for Fairland players Haley Woodall, Kayla Swiger, Pieper Lewis and Mariah Chaffin.

Woodall had a career game for the Dragons with 15 points. Terra Stapleton followed with 14 and Swiger tacked on 11.

MEIGS 8 12 7 4 -- 31: Fish 5, Maxon 2, Krautter 8, Phelps 2, George 4, Cremeans 4, Hudson 4, Russell 2.

FAIRLAND 29 15 11 15 -- 70: Woodall 15, Stapleton 14, Swiger 11, Dickess 2, Fulks 5, Chaffin 4, M. Riley 8, K. Riley 2, Stone 3, Perry 2, Lewis 4.

TOLSIA 45, SISSONVILLE 43: Savannah Winnett grabbed a rebound and put it back for a basket just before the horn sounded to lift Tolsa past Sissonville. The win give Tolsia its first outright Cardinal Conference title (13-0).

Winnett finished with 15 points and Krista Maynard and Jordan Presley each added 11. Maynard also pulled down 12 rebounds and Presley came up with nine steals.

Tolsia's next game is Thursday at home against Poca.

SISSONVILLE 10 13 11 9 -- 43: Pinkerton 13, Jones 11, Henry 10, Reed 6, Youngblood 2, Murray 1.

CHESAPEAKE 43, WELLSTON 42: Jordan Porter converted a free throw with 4.2 seconds left to give the Panthers (12-11) the win in Ohio sectional play at Jackson.

Porter finished with 12 points. Sydnee Hall had 11. Kelsey Curry grabbed nine rebounds and Kaylee Curry seven.

Chesapeake's next game is Saturday against Fairland at 1 p.m. at Jackson.

TUG VALLEY 53, WAYNE 25: Hannah Armstrong led the Panthers (11-8) with 12 points and 11 reboundss. Amber Linville scored 12.

Taylor Bartram led the Pioneers with 10 points and six rebounds. Emily Marsh also had six rebounds.
