For C-USA player of week, Herd has Hope
HUNTINGTON -- Marshall University second baseman Bri Anna Hope received Conference USA softball Player of the Week recognition.
Hope is a senior from Round Rock, Texas.
In the Thundering Herd's 5-1 week, Hope went 8-for-17 with eight RBIs and a 1.059 slugging percentage. She had two doubles, one triple, two home runs and scored six runs.
"It feels great," she said. "I have so many emotions running through me. I feel happy, excited and all types of emotions. It gives me a boost for this weekend coming for Tulsa, not just me, but for my team."
Hope's third-inning home run against UNC Greensboro proved to be the game-winner. She blasted a grand slam homer in a win over Robert Morris.
Marshall (10-9) plays a 5 p.m., Wednesday, game at the University of Kentucky.
C-USA Pitcher of the Week honors went to UAB senior Lauren Webster.
