WAYNE -- Wayne opened its boys basketball season with a 63-52 defeat of Ohio Valley Christian.

Brett Justice scored 21 for the Pioneers and Grant Ferguson had 17.

Ohio Valley Christian was led by T.G. Miller, who had 18 points.

OHIO VALLEY CHRISTIAN 11 11 6 23 -- 51: Bowman 6, Hollinghad 5, Hood 1, McKitrick 8, Blevins 1, Miller 18, Burleson 12.

WAYNE 15 22 14 12 -- 63: Egnor 4, C. Queen 6, Cassidy 2, Fry 2, Holland 1, Elkins 10, Justice 21, Ferguson 17.

HANNAN 72, VAN 66: Hannan (1-2) had five scorers in double figures -- Tyler Burns (15), Tyler Jenkins (14), Brad Fannin (13), Paul Holley (12) and Ty Paige (10).

Van was led by Brandon Elswick with 29 points.

Hannan plays Friday at Wayne.

Mikey Newsome added 15 whkle Thomas Baisden scored 12.

St. Joe (0-3) was led by Anthony Rabel and Michael Mays with 21 and 12 points respectively.

CHAPMANVILLE 42, HERBERT HOOVER 24: Mackenzie Martin and Denver Adkins both scored 14 as the Tigers opened the season with a victory.

ASHLAND 80, GREENUP COUNTY 45: Nick Miller put up 26 points, and Dikembe Dixson chipped in another 18 as the Tomcats steam-rolled the Greenup County Musketeers, 80-45, Tuesday night.

Ashland improves to 4-0 on the season with the win.

CALVARY BAPTIST 54, WOOD COUNTY CHRISTIAN 51: Mitchell Harman had 10 points and the go-ahead bucket with four seconds left as Calvary Baptist topped Wood County Christian Tuesday.

Trent Spears lead Calvary (6-0) with 24 points. Wood County (1-3) was led by Jamie Arnold with 16.

BOYD COUNTY 85, ELLIOTT COUNTY 77: Boyd County outpaced Elliott County in a high scoring contest Tuesday night.

Austin Hunt and Grayson Griffith led the way for the Boyd County Lions, with 19 points each.

Logan Nicholl was Elliott's leading scorer with 30.

Boyd County improves to 3-2 on the season, while Elliott falls to 2-4.
