Junior golfers to gain experience at Greenbrier Classic
WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. -- Junior golfers Alex Hamrick and Caleb Lee are getting quite a golf experience this week.
Hamrick and Lee, junior members of the West Virginia Golf Association, will see action twice in The Greenbrier Classic. They will take part in practice rounds Monday and compete in the pro-am Wedneday.
The two received encouragement from Gov. Tomblin on Saturday.
"Whether you're a young golfer or a skilled, experienced player, the Mountain State showcases some of the best golf courses in the country," Gov. Tomblin said. "I'm pleased to see two of our young men joining golf's professionals at the annual Greenbrier Classic. I encourage these young golfers to learn all they can from the course and their fellow golfers. One day, it'll be their turn to mentor a young, up-and-coming golfer."
Hamrick, 15, plays for Poca High School. He's been a regular in TopFlite/Callaway Junior Tour events for several years.
Lee, 18, played for four years for North Marion High School. He plays in WVGA and junior tournaments around West Virginia.
