District 1 Little Leaguers begin tournament Saturday

HUNTINGTON -- West Virginia District 1 teams begin competition Saturday in Little League Baseball for 11-12 year-old all-star teams.

This division will send its champion and runner-up to the state tournament beginning July 18 in Bridgeport/Clarksburg. The state champion advances to Southeast Regional play in St. Petersburg, Fla., which is a qualifier for the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa.

Pool 1 includes Milton, League 3, Wayne and Hite-Saunders. The Pool 2 lineup is Ona, Riverside, Vinson and Barboursville. Pool 3 teams are East Huntington, Ceredo-Kenova and Mason County.

Two teams from each pool move into the double-elimination finals beginning Wednesday.
