Hurricane all-stars win District 3 championship

ST. ALBANS, W.Va. -- Hurricane Little League's 7-8 year-old baseball all-star team won the District 3 championship.

The 10-team, double-elimination tournament was played at St. Albans.

"They came to practice, never complained and did exactly what the coaches told them to," Hurricane manager Jeff Dunham said. " It impressed me, them being so dedicated.

"For eight years old, they played at a very high level of baseball and played just as hard as the bigger boys do. So I'm really proud of them."

Hurricane defeated St. Albans in a Saturday game, 10-7, and again Sunday, 4-1.

Dunham said it was a cooperative effort from everyone.

"We had a good group of kids and even a better group of parents," he said. "Everyone was supportive. They were great."

Dunham had special thanks for assistant coaches Eric Pauley, Mike Muto and Will McClure as well as parent volunteers Jeff Brooks and Jean Estel.
