Chapmanville's Martin makes 1st team all-state
HUNTINGTON -- Mackenzie Martin from Chapmanville High School was named as a first team player on the Class AA boys basketball atll-state team by the West Virginia Sports Writers Association.
Martin scored 20.5 points and averaged 11 rebounds as a senior.
Morgan Stacy from Tolsia was a second team selection as a senior who averaged 17 points per game.
Poca sophomore Noah Frampton (14.3 ppg) and Mingo Central senior Austin Banks were on the third team. Banks averaged 15.3 points, 8.5 assists and 6.1 rebounds.
All-state honorable mention picks included Brett Justice from Wayne; Austin Brewer and Terry Davis from Tolsia; Cam Cottrill from Poca; Kenny Plumley of Chapmanville; and Mingo Central players Marqus Cunningham and Alex Lee.
Webster County senior Brett Morris had averages of 25.9 points, 9.4 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 2.5 steals and 4.6 blocks and was named as the captain of the first team.
Fairmont Senior junior point guard Jarin Hilson and Bluefield junior Michael Yost were chosen as captains of the second and third teams respectively.
Hilson averaged 16.8 points and six assists while Yost scored 15 points a game.
