Lincoln County girls beat South Charleston

HAMLIN -- Brooke West pitched a complete game and struck out 12 as Lincoln County defended its home turf, beating South Charleston 4-1 in softball Tuesday.

The Black Eagles scored in the top of the first, while the Panthers (11-5) plated all four of their runs in the first three innings, including a two-run homer by Faith Huffman in the bottom of the second.

HUNTINGTON ST. JOE 26, IRONTON ST. JOE 12: Jennifer Sang went 4-5, picking up a double, triple and eight RBI as the Irish defeated the Flyers (1-5) by mercy rule. Chelsea Gale also went 2-3 and knocked in four runs for the Irish.

The win marked the second in a row for Huntington St. Joe (3-6).

St. Joe (3-6) has won two in a row. The Irish entertain Teays Valley Christian Thursday at 5 p.m. at Rotary Park.

BASEBALL

CABELL MIDLAND 10, WINFIELD 0: Tyler Hayes only had to pitch five innings to get the win for Cabell Midland in baseball Tuesday night.

The Knights (7-5) put up back-to-back five-run innings to defeat Winfield by mercy rule, 10-0, at home.

Hayes also went 2-3 at the plate, with two doubles. Brighton Jobe had a double and an RBI for Midland.

The Generals committed six errors in the contest.

Cabell Midland hosts rival Huntington High Wednesday night.

Anthony Rabel had a three-run homer for the Irish (5-1) in the bottom of the first, while Stephen Jenkins hit a solo homer and Paul Dransfeld had a two-run shot in the bottom of the fourth.

The Irish play Thursday at home against Tolsia at the YMCA Kennedy Center.
