Golden Gloves boxing show scheduled for Saturday
MORGANTOWN -- Stacks of Dynamite Gym in Ashland had four fighters win bouts at a boxing show Saturday night.
Marcus Coney, 132 pounds; Ceasar Ruiz, 152; and Ethan Curry, 165, each went 1-0 in the open division. Jermain Walker, 178, won his novice bout.
CHESAPEAKE -- A Golden Gloves boxing show is scheduled at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Chesapeake Community Center. Noah Kirk, volunteer coach for Buckeye Boxing, is running the show. More than 20 bouts are scheduled featuring fighters from Chesapeake, Huntington, Ashland and other parts of Ohio and Kentucky.
Proceeds will go toward insurance for 2010, equipment and travel for Buckeye Boxing. Admission is $12 with a $2 discount with two cans of food for the Chesapeake Community Center's food drive. For more information, contact Kirk at 606-831-4128.
