Ready to run in Huntington

HUNTINGTON -- Runners and walkers prepared for the West Virginia 5K Championship on Friday as they lined up inside the Pullman Plaza Hotel to pre-register and pick up their race packets.

The 5K walk and run event is set to begin at 8 a.m. today in the area of 8th Street and 9th Street on Veterans Memorial Boulevard. Nearly 400 people had signed up to compete in the race as of Thursday morning.

Participants and community members also came together on Friday evening to enjoy live entertainment sponsored by Amy and Parker Ward at the Pullman Square stage. Performances included music from The Shriner's Band and the Regional Bluegrass band.
