Herd wins 5 events in Oiler Open
FINDLAY, Ohio -- Marshall's track and field athletes won five events at the University of Findlay's Oiler Open in the Malcolm Athletic Center.
It was the Thundering Herd's first meet of the season.
"We had an unbelievably awesome opening meet," Herd coach Jeff Small said.
Vanessa Jules was first in the pentathlon with wins in the high jump, long jump and 60-meter hurdles. Jules placed third in the shot put.
Amanda Hottenstein won the weight throw with a personal-best toss of 15.23 meters.
Crystal Walker and Amber Pierson placed first and second, respectively, in the long jump. Walker jumped 5.84 meters and Pierson went 5.74 meters.
Pierson won the 400 with a personal-best 58.76 seconds.
Jasia Richardson won the triple jump with a leap of 12.07 meters.
