Highlanders score a road win at Winfield

WINFIELD -- Arick Nicks, Shaquan Miller and Nathan Demoss each scored in double figures to power Huntington High to a 56-53 win over Winfield in boys basketball action Friday night.

Nicks led the Highlanders (9-2) with 16 points and 15 rebounds for a double-double. Miller hit for 14 points and Demoss 10.

Christopher Turner paced the Generals (6-6) with 16 points. Zachary Fisher added 13 and Taylor Hearn 12.

Huntington High's next game is Tuesday at home against South Charleston.

BOYD COUNTY 85, ASHLAND 73: Todd Stacy hit for 19 points to lead the Lions past the Tomcats.

The Lions got double-digit nights from three other players, including Austin Hunt with 16.

Huntington High transfer Dikembe Dixson led Ashland with 25 points.

NITRO 57, CABELL MIDLAND 42: Angelo Sirianni scored a game-high 20 points to spark the Wildcats past the Knights (4-9).

Sawyer Beckett had 19 points to lead Cabell Midland. The Knights return to action Tuesday at home against Winfield.

Savannah Cyrus added 16 points while Shelby Hay scored 14.

Tug Valley (8-3) had double-figure points from Whitney Evans-Kirk (17), Hannah Armstrong (13), Adreana Vance 13 and Amber Linville (12). Armstrong and Linville completed double-doubles with 11 and 10 rebounds respectively.
