2nd day better for Dransfeld, Michael

HUNTINGTON -- Huntington's Josef Dransfeld and Andy Michael got off to a rough start in their 2013 golf season.

The two juniors competed Saturday and Sunday in the Copperhead Classic at Innisbrook Golf Resort in Innisbrook, Fla. The tournament is the opening event on the U.S. Kids Golf Regional Championship schedule.

Dransfeld, a seventh-grader at Our Lady of Fatima, and Michael, who's in the seventh grade at Barboursville Middle, competed in the Boys 12 Division. They played on the Copperhead Course (5,810 yards, par 72).

Dransfeld opened with 85 Saturday, but rallied with a 75 Sunday for a 160 and tied for 12th.

Michael carded 90 in round one, but came back with 79 Sunday for a 169. He tied for 20th.

Crosby Guercio of Frisco, Texas, won with a 145 total on rounds of 74 and 71.

The invitation-only tournament had eight divisions for boys and seven for girls. The resorts North and South courses also were used.
