Ironton earns top seed in Ohio district draw

HUNTINGTON -- The Ironton Fighting Tigers drew the No. 1 seed in the Jackson district of the Ohio Division III postseason, which starts next week at Jackson High School.

Local action gets started on Feb. 19 where the sectional semifinal matchups will both feature local teams. At 6:15 p.m., Coal Grove takes on South Point while Rock Hill battles Portsmouth West at 8 p.m.

On Feb. 22, Ironton will take on the winner of Portsmouth-Wheelersburg in the sectional finals at 6 p.m. while Chesapeake faces Minford in the 8:30 p.m. contest following the first game.

On Feb. 23, the Coal Grove-South Point winner will meet Oak Hill at 5 p.m. in the sectional final. Should Rock Hill defeat Portsmouth West, the Redmen would also take on Lucasville Valley at 8 p.m. that evening.

The winners of the sectional finals all advance to the Convocation Center on the campus of Ohio University for the district semifinals.
