Herd loses in Georgia Tech Classic
ATLANTA -- Indiana and No. 24 Georgia Tech each posted one-run wins over the Thundering Herd Saturday in the Georgia Tech Classic. Indiana needed eight innings for a 2-1 win and the Yellow Jackets prevailed, 7-6.
Andi Williamson went the distance in the opener for the Herd. She fanned 11. She made a relief appearance in the nightcap and also took the loss.
Indiana scored the game-winner on a fielder's choice in the eighth after the international tiebreaker was applied, which means each half-inning begins with a runner on second base.
Georgia Tech (6-0) built a 5-1 lead after three innings and held on. Kaelyn Green drove in three runs for Marshall (2-5).
Marshall wraps up play Sunday with two games. The Herd meets Indiana at 10:30 a.m. and Miami (Ohio) at 5:30 p.m.
