Youth compete in annual event

HUNTINGTON -- Chesapeake, Logan and Huntington Red won championships Sunday in the 53rd Jack Butler Memorial basketball tournament.

Gavin Hunt scored 13 points to lead Chesapeake past C-K Green, 38-30, in the title game in the 10-Year-Old Division. Amare Smith paced C-K with 10. Huntington Red beat Milton, 59-33, in the game for third.

Logan prevailed over C-K, 42-28, for the 11-Year-Old crown. David Early led Logan with 18 points. C-K didn't have a player in double figures.

Huntington Red knocked off South Point, 41-32, in the battle for the 12-Year-Old Division championship. Caleb Brown and Luke Zban hit for 10 each to lead Huntington Red. South Point's Tayshaun Fox topped all scorers with 22. C-K beat Ashland, 57-28, in the contest for third.

Ceredo-Kenova takes on Logan during the Jack Butler Memorial Buddy Tournament youth basketball 11-year-old championship game on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at the Phil Cline Family YMCA in Huntington.
