HHS boys to oppose No. 1 seed
CHARLESTON -- Class AAA, Region IV co-champions Huntington High and Hurricane got a difficult draw for the Boys High School Basketball State Tournament in the Charleston Civic Center.
Huntington High (18-6) is a No. 8 seed taking on No. 1 seed Martinsburg at 7:15 p.m., Wednesday. Hurricane (20-5), a No. 7 seed, plays No.2 Woodrow Wilson at 11:15 a.m., Wednesday.
Martinsburg (23-2) from Region II has won 10 consecutive games. The Bulldogs haven't lost to an in-state opponent. Huntington High has a four-game win streak.
Woodrow Wilson (21-4) came out of Region III with a 17-game win streak. Hurricane makes its first Class AAA state tournament appearance.
Tolsia and Robert C. Byrd play a Class AA matchup of teams seeded No. 5 and No. 4 respectively at 9 p.m., Thursday.
Class A top-seeded Tug Valley plays Notre Dame at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday. No. 6 seed Buffalo and No. 3 Charleston Catholic play at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday.
