Milton Middle wins Cabell Co. volleyball

HUNTINGTON -- Milton Middle School made it five straight Cabell County volleyball titles with a 2-0 win over Beverly Hills on Friday at Enslow Middle's gym.

Scores were 25-11, 25-22. Kyla Schull led Milton with 10 points.

Gary Belcher wins Scratch Singles title

HUNTINGTON -- Gary Belcher proved to be the most consistent bowler under a demanding condition Sunday and won the Scratch Singles Tournament at Colonial Lanes.

The USBC Masters pattern was used. Belcher rolled a 228 during qualifying for high game of the tournament. He finished No. 2 with 776 and won two matches to take home the title and earn a berth in the Tournament of Champions on Nov. 22.

Matt Maynard led the qualifying with 780. Dana Jones was third with 743 followed by David Allen with 732 and Harold Sparkman with 720. Sparkman and Justin Adkins tied at 732 and Sparkman won a one-game rolloff, 191-144.

Sparkman eliminated Allen, 188-158, in the first match and Jones, 173-162, in the second in the stepladder finals. Belcher moved in and beat Sparkman, 200-183, and Maynard, 201-167, in the finals.
