Herd doubles team defeated in Virginia

BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Marshall University women's tennis doubles partners Dominika Zaprazna and Maria Voscekova were defeated Tuesday in the semifinals of the ITA Atlantic Regional.

Maci Epstein and Erin Vierra from the Virginia Cavaliers defeated the Marshall pair, 8-5.

The next Marshall tournament is Nov. 9-11, the Kitty Harrison Invitational, at North Carolina.

MEN'S GOLF

POWELLS POINT, N.C. -- Marshall golfer Nathan Kerns finished tied for eight place at the ODU/OBX Invitational at Kilmarlic Golf Club.

Kerns finished Tuesday with a 4-under-par 68 for a 54-hole 215 total.

Georgia Southern won the team championship (854) and Marshall was 12th (915) in a field of 18 teams. Scott Wolfes from Georgia Southern was the individual winner at 207.

Marshall also had Brian Anania (77 -- 230), Jeremy Rogers (75 -- 230), Logan Lagodich (76 -- 241) and Josh Holmes (79 -- 244).

WOMEN'S GOLF

GERMANTOWN, Tenn. -- Marshall women's golf finished 12th in the 14-team FedEx Memphis Intercollegiate at Ridgeway Country Club.

Samford won the 54-hole tournament with a 913 team score. Marshall shot 985.

Natalie Mitchell from Samford was the individual winner with a 7-over-par 220.

Marshall players were Rachel Thompson (80 -- 242), Samantha DiDomenico (84 -- 244), Korakot Simsiriwong (84 -- 246), Caitlyn Morrone (86 -- 255) and Kristyn Morrone (89 -- 266).
