OSU student wins Marshall University Marathon

HUNTINGTON — Chris Paulett was the unofficial winner Sunday in the Marshall University Marathon by a sizable margin.

Paulett, a 25-year-old optometry school student at Ohio State University, ran the 26.2-mile course with an unofficial time of 2 hours, 38 minutes, 17 seconds.

Runner-up John Van Steenbergh, 42, from Flowery Branch, Ga., posted an unofficial time of 2:48.04.

Holly Baker Wong of Richmond, Va., led the female marathon finishers, unofficially with a time of 3:12.47.

David McCollam, , school teacher in Bridgeport, W.Va., was first in the 13.1-mile half-marathon run with an unofficial time of 1:11. David Breshnahan was second in about 1:13.

Race director Tom Dannals with HealthyHuntington.org said a record for entries was set with about 1,000 participants.
