Local players named all MSAC

CHARLESTON -- Several area baseball players received accolades on Tuesday after being named as the best in the Mountain State Athletic Conference.

Cabell Midland led area teams with five players on the two teams while Huntington, Spring Valley and Hurricane each had four nominees.

The first team All-MSAC selections included three players from Cabell Midland -- Dakota Nelson (pitcher), Chase Perry (outfielder) and Cory Miller (utility) -- two from Hurricane -- Justin Henry (pitcher) and Billy Smith (outfielder) -- Huntington's Grant Williams (catcher) and Lincoln County's Josh Wade (outfielder).

Huntington and Spring Valley each placed a pair of players on the second team All-MSAC squad. Ian Alexander (utility) and Joey Christian (outfielder) made it for the Highlanders while Heath Booton (pitcher) and Zach Harrison (outfielder) represented the Timberwolves. Cabell Midland's Pat Stapleton (designated hitter) and Hurricane's Thor Meeks (catcher) also were on the second team.

Honorable mention representatives include Spring Valley's Cody Smith and Ryan Workman, Huntington's Chase Chapman, Cabell Midland's Matt Hall and Hurricane's Chris Finch.
