MU roundup: Marshall to play Morehead State
HUNTINGTON -- Marshall University (16-26) plays Morehead State (15-30) in a 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, non-conference baseball game at Linda K. Epling Stadium in Beckley.
Marshall plays Eastern Kentucky (15-26) at 3 p.m., Wednesday, at V.A. Memorial Stadium in Chillicothe, Ohio.
HUNTINGTON -- Sarah Kay, a Marshall junior from Cape Town, South Africa, was named as the Thundering Herd's most valuable swimmer at the team postseason banquet.
Other award winners were:
Most Outstanding Performance, Danica Ross.
Most Improved, Kacey Preun.
Hardest Worker, Tiffany Aeling.
Marshall Strong (Hardest Worker in Strength and Conditioning), Lauren Hurd.
Spirit Award (Most Team Spirit and Positive Outlook), Katie Kramer.
Marshall had school records during the season set by Kaley Gregory (1,000 freestyle); Lauren Rone (platform diving); Danica Ross (50 and 100 freestyle); Ross, Aeling, Sarah Coghlin, Gregory (800 freestyle relay).
Marshall tennis player Dominika Zaprazna received All-Conference USA second team recognition.
Zaprazna is a senior from Bratislava, Slovakia. She posted a 9-15 singles record and was 15-9 in doubles.
