Morris nets career-high 34 for Spring Valley

SPRING VALLEY -- Spring Valley's Maddie Morris scored 16 of her career-high 34 points in the third quarter as the Timberwolves exploded past Riverside to remain undefeated on the year.

Spring Valley (4-0) scored 36 points in the third quarter -- the second time in four games they have eclipsed 30 points in the third period this season.

In addition to the 34 points, Morris -- a Marshall commit -- also finished with six steals for the Timberwolves, who forced Riverside into 32 turnovers.

Sarah Kelly continued her strong start to the season as well, finishing with 15 points and 13 assists for the Timberwolves, who travel to Capital on Thursday night before taking on Parkersburg at 1:30 p.m. on Friday afternoon at Charleston Civic Center.

Jordan Ratcliffe also finished in double-figures for Spring Valley with 12 points.

Riverside (1-2) got 19 points from Brittany Wood and 10 from Rachel Mills in the loss.

LOGAN 74, TOLSIA 50: Monica Mitchell scored 29 points and Shayna Gore netted 22 as Logan picked up its first win of the 2013-14 season over Tolsia.

The Wildcats raced out to a 30-point lead after three quarters after outscoring Tolsia (1-2) 20-7 in the third quarter.

Jordan Pressley had 13 points for Tolsia while Savannah Winnett and Tasha Nichols added 12 and 11 respectively.

Emily Pitkin finished with 22 points and 10 rebounds to lead Cabell Midland (2-0) while Sierra Jordan added 17 points and 10 rebounds in the win.

Cabell Midland travels to Ripley on Thursday.

Aaliyah Williams had 26 in the loss for Woodrow Wilson.
