Cross country teams set to meet today in Teays Valley
HUNTINGTON -- Class AAA, Region IV cross country teams run in their regional meet today at Valley Park in Teays Valley.
The girls race begins at 4:30 p.m, followed by the boys at 5 p.m.
Schools and athletes attempting to qualify for the Nov. 1 state meet at Cabell Midland are from Huntington High, Cabell Midland, Spring Valley, Hurricane, Winfield, Lincoln County, Parkersburg, Parkersburg South and Ripley.
Cabell Midland's boys are ranked No. 2 in the state behind Jefferson by RunWV.com. Winfield is No. 4.
Boys runners ranked in the state include Trey Beckett from Cabell Midland (11), Matt Burton from Winfield (18), Darius Hadi-Sedegh from Huntington High (24) and Luke Finley from Huntington High (25).
Hurricane is top-ranked in the state for the girls and Cabell Midland is No. 7.
Alex Dent and Josie Crouch from Hurricane are ranked No. 3 and No. 6 respectively while Megan Truelove from Winfield is ranked seventh.
Rachel Williams from Cabell Midland is 17th in the state rankings.
