Joyce gets third win in Scratch Singles
HUNTINGTON -- The patterns have been different, but the results have been the same for Matt Joyce of Nicholasville, Ky.
Joyce led the field in qualifying and won his only match Sunday to take home the title in the Scratch Singles Tournament at Colonial Lanes. The format calls for a PBA Tour oil pattern and the Chameleon made it tough for all the competitors except Joyce.
Joyce shot 898 in the four-game qualifier and beat No. 3 seed Joe McCoy Jr. in the championship match, 205-183. Joyce's other wins came on the Viper and Shark patterns.
Jeff Wiseman shot 813 to take No. 2 seed, followed by McCoy with 754, Mike Mann with 752 and Brian Fite with 745.
In the stepladder finals, Fite edged Mann, 154-150, and McCoy ousted Fite, 233-226, and Wiseman, 188-162, to make it to the finals.
Champs crowned in Mixed Championship
SNOWSHOE MOUNTAIN -- Esther Joo and Stan Adkins of Summersville won the net title Sunday in the West Virginia Mixed Championship played on the Raven Golf Clubg at Snowshoe Mountain. Joo and Adkins had a total of 156 and a one-shot edge over Jason and Crystal Wilkinson.
Larry Kalaskey of South Charleston and Patti Maroney of Moundsville captured the Gross Score division in a one-hole playoff. Kalaskey made birdie on the first hole to beat Tony and Nicolle Flood-Sawczyszyn. The teams tied at 182.Sawczyszyn. The teams tied at 182.
