Jeffrey Gorby: Volleyball kicks off in Lawrence County
Now that 2008 Olympics are over, we begin our search for the athletes of 2012. Could the next Kerri Walsh and Misty May Treanor be right here in Lawrence County, Ohio?
As the young ladies take to the volleyball courts throughout the county, I want to give you the opportunity to see them in action by providing you their schedules for the next week.
On Saturday morning, Chesapeake and Coal Grove will travel to Lousia, Ky. for the Lawrence County Tournament. Coal Grove will play at 9 a.m., followed by Chesapeake at 10 a.m.
Tuesday evening will feature the Dragons at South Gallia, while Ironton will play host to Jackson.
On Wednesday, Ironton will host Fairland, and Ironton St. Joe will travel to Coal Grove.
As we round out the week's schedule, Chesapeake will host River Valley for a Volley for a Cure match. Fairland will travel to Rock Hill, Gallipolis will host Ironton and Coal Grove welcomes South Point to the Hornets Nest.
All matches will start at 5:30 p.m., unless otherwise noted.
If you have a volleyball schedule for Symmes Valley, South Point or Ironton St. Joe, please e-mail it to gorby6@marshall.edu.
