Fite shoots 906, earns 7th win
HUNTINGTON -- Brian Fite continued his dominance Sunday in the Sport Lane Pattern Scratch Singles Tournament at Colonial Lanes.
Fite shot 906 on the WTBA Paris oil pattern to lead the qualifier and secure No. 1 seed for the stepladder finals. When he returned for the title match, he had just enough to beat Justin Adkins and collect his seventh win of the season.
Adkins was No. 2 qualifier with 886 followed by Brad Bayes with 883, Tyler Sacconi with 868 and Sam Hobbs with 846.
Sacconi beat Hobbs, 209-197, and Bayes, 226-223, in the first two matches. Adkins moved in and ousted Sacconi, 208-160.
Fite had opens in the eighth and ninth frames in the title match, but when Adkins failed to strike in the 10th, Fite secured a 190-166 victory.
The next event will be the Tournament of Champions on Nov. 18.
