Area teams win in county tournament
MILTON — Huntington and Barboursville won semifinal games in the Cabell County Middle School boys basketball tournament Monday night at Milton Middle School.
Javon Scheider scored 17 points to lead Huntington to a 56-15 victory over Milton.
Isaiah Thornhill and Mikal Dawson scored 11 points apiece for the Eagles, who shot 60 percent from the f ield.
Dawson also had six assists. Perry Gibson led the Panthers, who made just 15 percent of their shots, with six points.
Andrew Lester and Tanner Smith scored 12 points apiece to pace Barboursville to a 58-28 victory over Huntington East.
Lester made four of seven 3-point attempts. Smith hit five of seven field goal attempts.
Wayne Maynard and John Nethercutt led East with five points apiece.
Barboursville and Huntington play for the championship at 5 p.m. Thursday at Milton.
Girls tournament games Tuesday at Milton are Huntington East against Huntington at 5 p.m. and Milton taking on Barboursville at 6:30 p.m.
The girls championship is 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
