Area teams win in county tournament

MILTON — Huntington and Barboursville won semi­final games in the Cabell County Middle School boys basketball tournament Mon­day night at Milton Middle School.

Javon Scheider scored 17 points to lead Huntington to a 56-15 victory over Milton.

Isaiah Thornhill and Mikal Dawson scored 11 points apiece for the Eagles, who shot 60 percent from the f ield.

Dawson also had six assists. Perry Gibson led the Panthers, who made just 15 percent of their shots, with six points.

Andrew Lester and Tan­ner Smith scored 12 points apiece to pace Barboursville to a 58-28 victory over Hun­tington East.

Lester made four of seven 3-point attempts. Smith hit five of seven field goal attempts.

Wayne Maynard and John Nethercutt led East with five points apiece.

Barboursville and Hun­tington play for the champi­onship at 5 p.m. Thursday at Milton.

Girls tournament games Tuesday at Milton are Hun­tington East against Hun­tington at 5 p.m. and Milton taking on Barboursville at 6:30 p.m.

The girls championship is 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
