HUNTINGTON -- Many of the West Virginia teams would have loved a 1-1 draw in Saturday's action during the US Youth Soccer Region I Championships.

BARBOURSVILLE -- With 4,500 players taking part in the 2009 US Youth Soccer Region I Championships, the focus of more than 200 college coaches is on the fields at Barboursville Soccer Complex and Scott Orthopedic Soccer Complex at the Huntington YMCA Kennedy Center.

BARBOURSVILLE -- All tournament teams are feeling the pressure to win a title at the US Youth Soccer Region I Championships this week at the Barboursville Soccer Complex.
Former WVU player, coach back in the Mountain State for tourney
BARBOURSVILLE -- It has been nearly eight years since Paul Marco coached in the Mountain State, but as he drove to the US Youth Soccer Region I Championships, it still felt like home.
West Virginia Thunder plays as a team, and that’s a big reason the girls age 12-Under basketball team placed fifth in the nation last year.
HUNTINGTON -- US Youth Soccer is the largest member of the United States Soccer Federation, the governing body for soccer in the United States, according to the Web site www.usyouthsoccer.org.
HUNTINGTON -- It began with 10,000 teams playing at the US Youth Soccer state level. From there, 926 teams advanced to one of the four regional tournaments.
