Video: “Climate of Change” to be shown Jan. 16

Jan. 09, 2013 @ 11:39 AM

Here's the official trailer for the award-winning documentary film "Climate of Change." The League of Women Voters is hosting a viewing party at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, at the Beverly Hills Presbyterian Church, 469 Norway Ave., Huntington for the environmental film. "Climate of Change" shows environmental action by everyday people in communities worldwide. Folks in the award-winning documentary film, narrated by Tilda Swinton, include 13-year old Indian school children who are educating their neighbors about environmental problems as well as making changes; a public relations woman from London who promotes sustainability; an African leader who organizes a solar festival; West Virginians who respond to the environmental problems of mountaintop removal mining, including OVEC's Maria Gunnoe; and New Guinean timber operators who selectively log the trees rather than deforest its portion of the rain forest. Also that night, enjoy a short play, "Cassandra," about the reaction of neighbors to mountaintop removal mining. The play was written by long-time OVEC board member Elinore Taylor, and the actors include Carolyn Thomas and Norm Branch. For more information, call 304-736-3287.
