September 27, 2007 @ 08:38 AM

FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. — Motorists will notice heightened road patrols on U.S. 60 in Boyd County next week, according to a press release issued by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

The week-long blitz is part of a wider effort aimed at reducing the fatality rate and the number of intoxicated drivers traveling U.S. 60 in Boyd, Carter, Bath and Rowan counties. The blitz will run between Sunday and Oct. 6.

The Kentucky State Police, Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement, local city police and sheriff’s departments will participate in the effort. They will target violations for speeding, improper passing, driving under the influence, driver inattention, equipment and insurance violations, child restraint and seat belt usage.
