Stuck tractor-trailer causing major problems on I-64
HUNTINGTON — A stuck tractor-trailer is causing headaches today for motorist traveling eastbound Interstate 64.
The incident occurred before 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the eastbound exit ramp of the Hal Greer Boulevard interchange. The ramp takes eastbound traffic off of Interstate 64. Highway officials believe the truck was too long and too wide for the exit ramp, said Scott Eplin, a district construction engineer for the state Division of Highways.
Today’s problems were magnified by the ongoing bridge replacement project at the exit. Eplin said highways officials implemented an emergency contingency plan. It includes electronic signs telling motorists exit at the 5th Street Road or West Huntington interchanges.
