Three injured in two-vehicle crash; U.S. 52 open
BURLINGTON, Ohio — A two-vehicle crash forced authorities close a portion of U.S. 52. It opened again about 9 a.m.
The crash happened about 7:30 a.m. Thursday near a shopping center at the roadway’s intersection with Wal-Mart Way in Burlington, Ohio.
The crash involved a van, which made contact with the rear of a tractor-trailer. Three people were taken to the Cabell Huntington Hospital — two from the van and one from the tractor-trailer.
Witnesses told police the truck was stopped at the traffic light. They saw the van hit the rear of the truck without applying its brakes, according to Ohio State Patrol Trooper Rob McClelland. The van had a Kentucky license plate.
Dispatchers received word early on that one person was trapped.
Officials shut down a portion of the roadway to expedite the response of emergency vehicles.
