HUNTINGTON — Investigators believe a Wednesday night homicide is drug related, according West Virginia State Police Sgt. G.N. Losh.

The shooting killed Christopher Carter, 25. Authorities believe it happened after two men forced their way into Forest Bluff Apartment No. 7036, off East Pea Ridge Road near Huntington and Barboursville.

Losh said an argument ensued and Carter, a person visiting the residence, received three gunshot wounds as he tried to leave. He collapsed about 30 to 40 feet away from the apartment.

Authorities at midday were in the process of securing arrest warrants against two Detroit men — Terry Nicholas Morton, 34, and Tyerus Brandon Hayes, 29. Investigators believe both have left the area.

Morton answers to the street name “Boots,” while Hayes goes by the name “Tank,” Losh said.

Anyone with information about their whereabouts should call the State Police at 304-528-5555 or simply dial 911. The FBI and U.S. Marshals Service are being contacted to assist in the search, Losh said.

Investigators arrested a third man, Jonathan Yeager. The 27-year-old was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, a charge detectives believe is linked to the homicide, Losh said.

The sergeant said police seized suspected heroin and cocaine Yeager’s residence along Pinedale Drive, which is off East Pea Ridge Road.
