Herd adding football prospects
The following are National Letters of Intent that have been received by Marshall University's football offices.
7:14 a.m. - Josue Joseph, OL: A 6-4, 275-pound signeee from Freedom H.S. in Orlando, Fla.
7:19 a.m. - Cortez Carter, ATH: Carter is a 6-foot, 210-pound athlete projected as a linebacker from Liberty H.S. in Bealeton, Va.
7:23 a.m. - Anthony Spano, OL: Spano is a 6-2, 275-pound lineman from Gulf Coast H.S. in Naples, Fla.
7:25 a.m. - Remi Watson, RB: Watson is a 5-11, 195-pound running back from Lake Gibson H.S. in Lakeland, Fla.
7:28 a.m. - Armonze Daniel, LB: Daniel is a 6-4, 225-pound linebacker from Avon H.S. in Avon, Ind.
7:46 a.m. - Robert Mincey, DE: Mincey is a 6-5, 260-pound defensive end from Fairfield (OH) H.S.
7:49 a.m. - Keith Baxter, Jr., DB: Baxter is a 5-11, 180-pound defensive back from Homestead H.S. in Homestead, Fla. His father played football at Marshall from 1985-87.
8:05 a.m. - Davonte Allen, WR: Allen is a highly-coveted WR out of Glades Central H.S. in Belle Glades, Fla. Chose Marshall over West Virginia, Miami (Fla.), Rutgers, South Florida, Kansas, Iowa State.
8:22 a.m. - Robert Way, LB: Way is a two-time all-state LB for Glades Central H.S. our of Belle Glades, Fla. He chose Marshall over Florida and Miami, among others.
8:25 a.m. - Chris Alston, WR: Alston is a 5-11, 185-pound receiver from Fairfield Central H.S. that was the 3A Offensive Back of the Year in South Carolina.
8:47 a.m. - Deon Meadows, LB: Meadows is a 6-0, 215-pound linebacker from Smyrna (Tenn.) H.S. Tennessee Mr. Football finalist had offers from Arkansas, Memphis, UAB and Ohio.
8:59 a.m. - Eric Frohnapfel, TE: Eric Frohnapfel is a 6-6, 210-pound tight end from Colonial Forge H.S. in Stafford, Va. After decommitting from West Virginia, Eric chose to join his brother Blake at Marshall.
9 a.m. - Blake Frohnapfel, QB: Blake Frohnapfel is a 6-5, 210-pound pro-style quarterback from Colonial Forge H.S. in Stafford, Va. Blake chose Marshall over offers from Wake Forest, West Virginia and Vanderbilt.
9:08 a.m. - Terry Franklin, DE: Franklin is a 6-4, 235-pound junior college defensive end coming from Hinds Community College in Mississippi. He originally signed with Oklahoma out of Mansfield Legacy H.S. in Arlington, Texas.
9:35 a.m. - Jamar Lewter, OL: Lewter is a 6-8, 280-pound offensive lineman out of Ballou (D.C.) H.S. The highly-touted lineman chose Marshall over offers from Auburn, USC, Maryland, Pitt, Florida and North Carolina.
9:57 a.m. - DeAndre Reaves, ATH: Reaves is a 5-10, 180-pound athlete from Dominion (H.S.) in Sterling, Va. He had previously committed to West Virginia before switching to the Herd two weeks ago. Also had an offer from Maryland.
10:21 a.m. - Levern Jacobs, WR: Jacobs is a 6-foot, 165-pound receiver from Suitland H.S. in Forestville, Md. Also considered Temple and New Mexico.
11:39 a.m. - Jermaine Holmes, LB: Holmes is a 5-11, 230-pound linebacker from Valdosta (Ga.) High School. He also had offers from Illinois, Louisville, UCF, North Carolina.
11:47 a.m. - Colin Munro, OL: Munro is a junior college transfer from Chaffey Community College in California. Originally, he is from King H.S. in Riverside, Calif. Munro chose Marshall over West Virginia, Washington State, Memphis and Utah State.
11:52 a.m. - Jarquez Samuel, DE: Samuel is a 6-5, 240-pound defensive end from Valdosta (Ga.) High School. He chose the Herd over offers from LSU, WVU, Louisville, ECU and UAB.
12:00 p.m. - Steward Butler, RB: Butler is a 5-10, 170-pound running back from Lakeland, Fla. He ended his high school career as the third all-time leading rusher in Florida. Chose Marshall after de-committing from Arizona State. Also had offers from West Virginia, Boston College, Rutgers, Cincinnati and UCF.
12:18 p.m. - Rakeem Cato, QB: Cato is a 6-1, 170-pound quarterback from Miami Central High School in Miami, Fla. Cato had offers from Cincinnati and Florida International.
12:19 p.m. - Tommy Shuler, WR: Shuler is a 5-9, 185-pound receiver that teamed with Cato to lead Miami Central to a Florida State title over Dr. Phillips. Shuler had offers from Cincinnati and Florida International.
12:20 p.m. - Deontae West, DB: West is a 5-10, 170-pound defensive back from Hialeah (Fla.) High School. He choose Marshall over Texas Tech and Duke.
12:20 p.m. - Craig Wilkins, WR: Wilkins is a 5-11, 180-pound wide receiver from Hialeah (Fla.) High School. He picked the Herd over offers from Miami (Fla.), Ole Miss, Kansas, Kentucky, Kansas State, Vanderbilt and Duke.
Also included in the Class of 2011 are several players who have enrolled at Marshall in the last year.
Those players include the following:
Travon Van, RB: Van is a 5-10, 190-pound running back that came to Marshall from Milford Academy Prep (N.Y.). The Helix (Calif.) High School product originally signed to Florida. Van enrolled to Marshall last fall.
Conelius Jones, ATH: Jones is a 6-2, 195-pound athlete that signed with the University of Michigan as a quarterback out of Spartanburg (S.C.) High School. Jones enrolled at Marshall in January.
Corie Wilson, DB: Wilson is a 5-10, 170-pound defensive back out of Miami Edison (Fla.) High School. Chose Marshall over Western Michigan. Wilson enrolled at Marshall in January.
Evan McKelvey, S: McKelvey is a 6-foot, 185-pound safety from Berkley H.S. in South Carolina. McKelvey enrolled at Marshall in January.
