Marshall wins on Homecoming, 34-10

HUNTINGTON – Marshall jumped out on Homecoming with 17 points in the first quarter and ran down the UTSA Roadrunners, 34-17, Saturday before a Joan C. Edwards Stadium turnout of 28,837 spectators.

Marshall (3-2, 1-0 Conference USA) had 404 total yards that included Rakeem Cato passing for 279 and two scores.

Cato connected for touchdowns with Devon Johnson from 17 yards and Demetrius Evans from 4 yards.

 Essray Taliaferro added a 4-yard touchdown run while Steward Butler ran for a 1-yard score.

 Marshall led at halftime, 24-3.

 UTSA (2-4, 1-1) closed the gap with quarterback Eric Soza’s 1-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
