Marshall, WVU host math, science academies
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) — Hundreds of high school students from across West Virginia will be swarming the campuses of the state’s two largest universities in the coming weeks to work on their math and science skills.
West Virginia University is already hosting rising seniors involved in the Health Sciences and Technology Academy. Students in the one-week program arrived on the Morgantown Sunday and will remain there through Friday. There’s also a three-week program that lasts through July 25.
Next week, Marshall is hosting the academy’s Summer Institute for ninth and 10th graders, which is taking place July 13 through July 18.
West Virginia State University hosted academy students for a week last month.
The program provides academic enrichment for minority and underrepresented students in 26 counties.
