Ghost hunters to return to former mental hospital
WESTON, W.Va. (AP) — The hosts of the Sci Fi Channel’s “Ghost Hunters” are coming back to West Virginia’s most famous mental hospital.
Rebecca Jordan-Gleason says Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson of The Atlantic Paranormal Society will lead tours Thursday and Friday at the Lunatic Asylum West of the Alleghenies in Weston.
The operations manager for the former hospital’s new owners says the two, five-hour ghost-hunting expeditions have been sold out for months.
Hawes and Wilson explored the pre-Civil War facility in March and declared it haunted.
Proceeds from a Saturday auction will help pay to restore the building, which is one of the world’s largest hand-cut sandstone structures.
The Jordan family bought it from the state last year for $1.5 million.
