HURRICANE, W.Va. -- The Boston Red Sox selected Hurricane High School pitcher Aaron Perry Wednesday in the Major League Baseball Draft.

Boston chose Perry in the 14th round with the 431st overall pick.

The hard-throwing right-hander went 3-1 with a 0.75 earned run average last season before a stress fracture in his pitching elbow ended his season.

Perry has committed to the University of Kentucky and now will decide whether to honor that commitment or sign with the Red Sox.
