Solar United Neighbors forming new solar co-op in West Virginia

The Charleston-Huntington Solar Co-op, formed with the help of Solar United Neighbors, makes it easier to save money on the purchase of solar panels, while building a community of local solar supporters.

HUNTINGTON - Solar United Neighbors is launching a new Charleston-Huntington Solar Co-op for residents and business owners in the lower Kanawha Valley and Metro Valley region. That means the co-op is open to residents of Cabell, Kanawha, Mason, Putnam, and Roane counties, as well as nearby locations in northern Boone, Lincoln, and Wayne counties and southern Jackson County.

If you live in this area and want to go solar, now’s your chance. The Charleston-Huntington Solar Co-op, formed with the help of Solar United Neighbors, makes it easier to save money on the purchase of solar panels, while building a community of local solar supporters.

Come out to a free information session to learn about solar energy, as well as how the co-op simplifies the process of going solar while providing a discount through its bulk purchasing power. The meeting will be held at Unlimited Future, Inc., 1650 Eighth Ave., Huntington at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 22.

The co-op is accepting new sign-ups now through Sept. 30.

OVEC is excited to be one of the co-op partners. Other partners include: Appalachian Boarding Company, WV Citizens Action Group, WV Citizens’ Climate Lobby, WV Healthy Kids and Families Coalition, League of Women Voters of West Virginia, Our Children Our Future, Sierra Club, the Wild Ramp, and Watkins Designs Works.
