MILTON — The Cabell County Sheriff’s Department has identified a man's body found leaning against a neighborhood sign in Milton on Wednesday morning.

Deputy Sgt. Robert McQuaid said the body of William Michael Ball, 51, of Milton, was found leaning against the sign at the entrance of the Fox Pointe neighborhood on Fox Fire Road in Milton just before 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Deputies believe Ball could have been at the location, which is located in a highly visible area near U.S. 60, for about eight hours prior to him being located. He had last been seen shortly after midnight.

McQuaid said no external signs of foul play were found on Ball and nothing else at the scene indicated foul play had occurred.

The body was turned over Wednesday to the West Virginia State Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy. Ball's family was notified of his death Wednesday afternoon.
