WASHINGTON — U.S. Rep. Carol Miller, representing West Virginia's 3rd Congressional District, was sworn in as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives on Thursday in Washington, D.C.
Miller, sworn in by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, was added to the rolls of the House upon executing the oath of office.
The 116th Congress gaveled into session Thursday, boasting more women than ever before. But Miller, who in November beat Democratic opponent Richard Ojeda in the race for former Rep. Evan Jenkins' seat, is the lone Republican woman to be elected in 2018.
During her campaign, she held her cards close to her chest but pledged to support President Donald Trump's initiatives, including the need for a wall at the Mexico/U.S. border.
Miller's congressional website, https://miller.house.gov/, is now active and lists offices in Washington, D.C., Bluefield, Beckley and Huntington.
