West Virginia University football head coach Neal Brown was announced as the Jan. 27 guest speaker for the 30th Big Atlantic Classic basketball tournament banquet in the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center.

Brown, who succeeded Dana Holgorsen as Mountaineers coach, joins a long list of distinguished speakers for the Big Atlantic Classic, a lineup that includes Jerry West, Julius Erving, Larry Bird, Charles Barkley, Shaquille O'Neal, Bill Walton, Tim Tebow and others.

Tickets for the banquet are available by calling the BRCCC box office at 304-252-7361 or online at beckleyconventioncenter.com. Floor tickets are $40 and include a steak dinner. Balcony seats, which don't include a meal, are $7.50 for adults and $2.50 for students.

Doors open at 11:15 a.m., the dinner begins at 12:30 p.m. and Brown is scheduled to speak at about 1:30 p.m.

The Big Atlantic Classic basketball tournament, featuring several of the state's top boys and girls teams, as well as middle school games, will run from Monday, Jan. 28, through Saturday, Feb. 2. The schedule of games has not been announced.
