Shoppers look for Black Friday deals at the Huntington Mall in Barboursville in this 2015 file photo. For generations of Tri-State shoppers and retailers, Black Friday has become a tradition unto itself.

BARBOURSVILLE — Huntington Mall is gearing up to be the hot spot for Black Friday shopping.

Activities will start at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving night with a “500 Swag Bag Giveaway” in Center Court, with bags filled with gifts and special deals. One bag will have a $250 Huntington Mall gift card.

The “Rock the Mall” Dance Party kicks off right after the SWAG Bag giveaway with AAA Entertainment. There will be chances to win prizes all night long. The mall will be open until 1 a.m. with a few stores staying open all night long.

The fun continues on Friday at 6 a.m. with the Chocolate Rush. Over 200 candy bars will be given away to shoppers 18 and older in Center Court, while supplies last. Each candy bar is a sweet treat as well as a winner with from $10 to $500 in gift cards and prizes to be given away.

Holiday gift wrapping begins Black Friday with the Fairland varsity cheerleaders. The Golden Girls will wrap presents on Saturday and Huntington East Middle School on Sunday. These groups will wrap for donations all weekend long and will be located in the Macy’s Court.

Holiday hours for the Black Friday weekend are from 6 p.m. Thursday to 1 a.m. on Friday; from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday; and from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday. Additional holiday extended hours for stores can be found on line at

Huntington Mall hours are from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. The shopping complex is located off U.S. 60 and Interstate 64 at exit 20 in Barboursville.
