This is a very common question.  Understandably,

alcohol presents a gray area when it comes to what is considered problematic.

After all, as long as you’re at least 21 years old, alcohol is a legal substance!

However, alcohol use can be problematic and even addictive.  When considering your own alcohol use, the following questions can be helpful:

  • Have you ever felt the need to cut down on your drinking?
  • Have you ever felt annoyed by people criticizing your drinking?
  • Have you ever felt bad or guilty about drinking?
  • Have you ever needed a drink first thing in the morning (eye-opener) to steady your nerves or get rid of a hangover?

If you answered “yes” to at least 2 of those questions, it might be a good idea to follow up with your doctor or a therapist for further assessment and, if needed, to discuss treatment options.

If you or someone you know is concerned about alcohol or drug use, contact us to set up a free 15-minute consultation.  You can also ask about our NEW LOCATION in Teays Valley!
