HUNTINGTON — Auditions for the musical "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at Pea Ridge United Methodist Church at 5747 East Pea Ridge Road in Huntington.

The musical / rock opera, created by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, is based on the story of Joseph and his coat of many colors from the book of Genesis.

Performances of this musical are done by the Pea Ridge Players. Auditions are open to ages 8 to 108, with many roles available for all ages. People who wish to audition should arrive anytime during the scheduled auditions, and be prepared to sing about 30 seconds of the song of their choice. An accompanist will be provided.

The directing team includes director Chuck Minsker and music director Alex Lee, assistant professor of voice music and opera director and the coordinator of voice studies at Marshall University.

"This is one of my all-time favorite musicals," Minsker said. "It's loaded with lots of energy, terrific songs and a wonderful story. It has lots of parts for all ages, and it's a lot of fun. If you've ever wanted to try out for a show, this is the perfect one to start with."

Rehearsals will begin at the church on June 3, and performances are scheduled for Aug. 9, 10, 16 and 17 at 7:30 p.m., and Aug. 11 and 18 at 3 p.m.
