BARBOURSVILLE - will host the Barboursville Winter Series races at Barboursville Park beginning Dec. 18.

The series consists of a three-mile race on Dec. 18, a four-mile race on Jan. 15, 2017, and a five-mile race on Feb. 12, 2017. All races will begin at 2 p.m. and start and end near the lake at Barboursville Park.

Preregistration is $15 per race or $20 each race if participants sign up on the day of the race. Participants are encouraged to register for all three events in the series to not only promote staying fit all winter, but also to save

money on registration.

Participants who register and complete all three events will be entered into the series awards and receive the 2016-17 series T-shirt. Participants can register for all three races for $40 if registered by Dec. 18. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Coats for Kids program hosted by Goodwill Industries of KYOWVA Area Inc. Each year, Goodwill raises and collects money to purchase new coats for children in need. To date, Goodwill has been able to purchase and deliver 250 new coats.

"At TriStateRacer, our goal is to help our community by promoting fitness and raising millions for charity," said Pat Riley, owner of "Being able to continuously help other organizations give back in the community is great, but when our team can personally assist to raise more money for those in need, especially children in need, we are glad to contribute and give back. I cannot wait to see how many more coats will be given out this winter."
