Charles and Geneva Greene Renfroe are celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary. The couple was married in Ashland, Kentucky, by the Rev. Jess Oakley on June 17, 1949. Charles is the son of the late Samuel and Cleva Renfroe of Ashland, Kentucky. Geneva is the daughter of the late Albert and Mary Eliz Greene, also of Ashland, Kentucky.
Charles is retired from ARMCO Steel, and Geneva has spent her years as a homemaker. The couple has farmed since 1958 in Arabia, Ohio, raising beef cattle and a variety of crops. Charles and Geneva have raised a truck garden for 40-plus years and are known for their Silver Queen sweet corn and watermelon. To this day, they continue to raise a garden to enjoy with their family. Over the years, they often managed to take time away from the farm and enjoyed traveling across the United States. They have been to all 48 contiguous states and enjoy any chance to eat fresh seafood along their travels. They are longtime members of Myrtle Tree Missionary Baptist Church, where Charles has served the Lord as an ordained Deacon for 28 years. Charles and Geneva are wonderful examples of how to live a Christ-filled life.
They have been blessed with their children, Chuck (Brenda) Renfroe, Kathy (Allan) Cremeans and Dave (Barbie) Renfroe. Their grandchildren include Nikki (Shane) McComas, Chad (Jodi) Renfroe, Todd (Marketta) Robinson, Andy (Courtney) Cremeans, Amy (Josh) Jackson, Carl Grube and Tyler (Laura) Cremeans. Great-grandchildren are Chayden and Devin Renfroe, Austin and Samantha Robinson, Wade Britton, Madison and Chloe Floyd, Emily and Nick Jackson, Keira Cremeans, and Tylar Cremeans.
