HUNTINGTON — Sharing its home with Bare Arms, a firing range and gun shop, Bombshells Burgers & BBQ is a new restaurant with vintage World War II pin-up art flair.

Whether you're looking to get a quick snack in between target practice or stopping by for lunch or dinner, there's plenty to find on their menu. As options range from barbecue, hamburgers, pizza, and salads to their tasty tacos. There's also an assortment of "Locked & Loaded" appetizers which are hearty enough to share with a few friends. The restaurant enjoyed a soft opening on Saturday, June 16, and celebrated their grand opening on Monday, June 23.

"This building used to be home of the Laredo's Steakhouse and after that the Sky Box Sports Bar. It sat abandoned and was on the market for a few years. We started the first Bare Arms gun range in Ashland and we had enough demand from Huntington that we wanted to open a second location," William Bare, the owner of both Bombshell and Bare Arms, said.

Although the restaurant is located next to a firing range, customers are able to visit the newly remodeled accommodations, and enjoy their meal in peace and quiet.

The menu features a variety of barbecue including ribs priced at $19.99 for a full rack. Bombshell brisket, pulled pork sandwiches, and smoked chicken are available to round out their barbecue fare. Adding to the Bombshell menu are an assortment of burgers, including the half-pound "The Bombshell" burger priced under $7. The signature burger is dressed with Bombshell's special sauce, cheese, lettuce, tomato and onion. Another uniquely created burger is Bombshell's "The Juicy Lucy," which is stuffed with Swiss cheese, and topped with grilled mushrooms and onions.

For Bare, a veteran, decorating the store and restaurant has been something of a labor of love. Items have been handpicked to coincide with the name and menu featured at Bombshell and they're always looking to add to the decor.

"We made everything in the restaurant a tribute to the veterans of the World War II era. We put up recruitment posters and pin-up style art. A lot of items were found at flea markets and yard sales. People also brought things in and donated. We have a tribute wall to World War II veterans in the store. Anyone who is a veteran or had a family member can bring their picture to put up," Bare said.
