In 1948 William Rosenberg opened a donut shop in Quincy, Massachusetts under the name "Open Kettle." Two years later the restaurant was renamed "Dunkin' Donuts." Back then a donut costs 5 cents while a cup of coffee went for 10 cents. Over time Dunkin' Donuts would grow into a global chain. In 2017, the company would begin re-branding with new stores and simply calling themselves "Dunkin.'" The new name became part of a growing emphasis on the company's assortment of coffees which now included cappuccinos and lattes. A new slogan "America Runs on Dunkin'" was introduced. The newest Dunkin' opened in Huntington on Thursday, March 8.

"We started work on this location a little over a year ago. Since there used to be a 7-Eleven here we had to figure out if we could get the Dunkin' on the property. There are lot of stipulations on a drive-thru in Huntington. Our architect and director of construction worked hand in hand with the city, " said Saraha Weitzman, director of operations of the Huntington Dunkin'. "We had to start from the ground up."

"We started training on Monday and opened on Thursday," said Dustin Bryant, area supervisor of Dunkin'.

Dunkin' features an assortment of gourmet coffees. Start your day with a hot cup of Original Blend, Dark Roast, or decaf ($1.99-$2.59). If you want to cool off you can try iced coffee ($2.49-$3.29), cold brew ($2.69-$3.29), and Nitro Coffee ($3.69). Among the non-coffee drinks are hot cocoa with a price range from $2.29 to $2.89, and a frozen drink called a Coolata priced from $2.69 to $4.39.

"We now have some Girl Scout Cookie-inspired drinks, which are wonderful. They are a limited time offer. This will be our third year of teaming up with the Girl Scouts," Weitzman said. " We have a Thin Mint cappuccino. We also have a Thin Mint donut, a Trefoils Shortbread latte, and a Coconut Caramel iced latte."

While the donuts no longer get top billing, Dunkin' continues to offer a variety of popular donuts including maple frosted, Boston cream, and jelly-filled. One donut starts at $1.09, a half dozen for $5.99, or a full dozen for $9.49. You can also start off your day with a breakfast sandwich like a Dunkin' Double Sausage priced at $3.99 on a toasted bagel, or the Ham, Egg, & Cheese ($3.69) on an English muffin.

Dunkin' is located at 1909 5th Ave. next to CVS. It is open from 6 a.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 6 a.m. until 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Cash and all major credit cards are accepted. You can call them at 681-378-3912. You can visit them on the web at
